A PERSONAL NOTE - JESSE

Chelsea has been watching the staff here like a hawk. Her perch is in achair holding Cody's left hand. She is very quick to question everymovement by the staff. She is also very quick to point out anyvariances in his vitals and recommends treatment. I am impressed howfast she learned all the monitors, the functions, how everything is conect andwhat to look for. If she was in scrubs you would think she was justanother staff member here. I would describe Chelsea as the mostcompassionate of the Marshall kids. I believe that she feels what isgoing on around her more accurately than anyone else. You get a greatsense of this when you see her next to Cody.

On Wednesday I got a text message from Cody saying how excited hewas because he just got the new iPhone. I talked to him later thatnight and he was even more exited than earlier when he synced his newiPhone to his computer and all his apps, music, contacts, everythingloaded up automatically. You see a week before he was testing howwaterproof his original iPhone was by taking it in the hot tub withhim. The iPhone was not a fan of the hot tub. He had to go back tousing his old phone while figuring out how to get a new iPhone. Duringthe week it was impossible to have a conversation with him without himharping on his old cell phone.

During the first night Chelsea and I were lying together and shehad Cody's person effects with her. After a long stressful day we hearCody's new iPhone ring in her purse. It lights up our small dark roomand she looks at me, completely serious and says "Well, at least Codydidn't break his new iPhone. That would have made him mad".

I couldn't help but laugh.

Much Love,

Jesse

So good to hear that Cody is making some progress and that you and Chelsea are there for him. I haven't seen any of you in quite some time, but knowing you I am sure you are worrying. Be sure to take care of yourself and get rest. Give Cody a hug for me and tell him to fight like hell.

    Love,
    Sarah

Chelsea is the most dedicated, compassionate, kind, and gentle person I know. (I know this from watching her coach lane 1 in swim team - also known as the drowners.) And because of her presence at the hospital, I know that Cody is getting the best treatment possible. She is always quietly surveying her surroundings - and then steps in at precisely the right moment . Chelsea, you are the best sister! Cody is so blessed to have you. Be sure to take care of yourself!
p.s.- I LOL when I read the cell phone comment!
