MEDICAL UPDATE SUNDAY 11:53 PM
It is a constant balancing act in here. The oxycodone functioned mostly as they expected it to. His heart rate is currently at 93 bpm. One of the side effects of oxycodone is it can reduce blood pressure. His systolic dropped to 89. This was corrected with blood pressure medication. A little too much at first, his systolic jumped to 166. We have since dialed this in and his current systolic pressure is 109. One of the things in here that you get used to pretty quick is the alarms. All his monitors are set to low tolerances and they seem to go off all the time. After you learn what you are looking at and what the ranges should be you start to feel better. But it does tend to works both ways, my heart did start beating quick when I saw the big jump in his systolic pressure.
Cody's current blood pressure is 109/64. We are happy with anything over 100/60.

What is blood pressure?
Blood pressure is the pressure of the blood against the walls of the arteries. Blood pressure results from two forces. One is created by the heartas it pumps blood into the arteries and through the circulatory system. The other is the force of the arteries as they resist the blood flow.
What do blood pressure numbers indicate?
- The higher (systolic) number represents the pressure while the heart contracts to pump blood to the body.
- The lower (diastolic) number represents the pressure when the heart relaxes between beats.

Cody, you probably do not remember this, you were 8 years old and running the Rutland hospital 5k. As you passed me (and I was 26 at the time) you looked at me and said, "And I stopped to tie my shoe." You always were amazing! Keep fighting.

Morning Cody and Marshall crew-
Glorious day in VT so I am sure it will be a good day for you out there. Got a new crew of 45 young ski racers arriving at ELITEAM today and we will have a CODY focus this week as we run and jump and climb and bike and get our bodies strong as you are Cody.
Is there a snail mail address out there we can send notes and pictures to?
Have a great day Cody and fight through this.

Cody,
It's Joyce from Pico, more recently Sugarloaf)
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family for a speedy recovery.
I decided to blog after reading Jesse's note about cell phones. I DO have a cell phone, I just DON'T text yet. Must have spent too much time in VT in the 80's...it rubbed off.
Sending a shout to everyone: Barb, Don, Jesse, Chelsea, Tucker, and...I'm guessing there must be a dog (or 2) in that hospital room with all of you !!
To all, Every day forward is a victory! Patience...and Love,
Joyce

As others have already said, it is a beautiful day in VT. Last night was one of the few nights this summer where the stars were out in force. Nothing like being in VT and looking at the stars. It never ceases to amaze how many stars one can see on a clear night in VT. Get better soon so you can return to VT and see the stars.
Thanks for the updates. You make me feel like I am there with all of you.

I don't know Cody personally, but I heard about his accident through SkiRacing and wanted to send my prayers and good wishes for his complete recovery. It sounds like things are going in the right direction and with all the support from his family and friends, I feel certain that he'll be as good as new. Thanks for posting the updates on his blog so we can all keep track of his progress. Thank goodness he has such wonderful siblings to help him through this, as well as his many friends near and far. Stay Positive!!
I do not know Cody or any of the Marshalls but I'm a skier and TBI survivor who wanted to offer my prayers, wishes and advise. I've been following Cody's recovery. TBI recovery is long and difficult but it will happen! The brain is an amazing organ and it's ability to heal is awesome! I'm speaking from experience, I suffered a TBI and was in a coma with pneomonia myself. I sustained a TBI in a terrain park ski crash several years ago. It was a difficult road to recovery but I did it! It's all about the family and friends support network. So to Cody and all family & friends Stay Positive and Keep the faith! Cody will be back on the mountain very soon!
Peace,Love,& Tons a Snow....Mike
PS- I offer my assistance if any of you or Cody have any questions during recovery when he comes out of coma....I know I wish I had a TBI survivor to speak with during my recovery...so that's what I'm offering.

Cody, all of Pittsfield and all of us here at Pittsfield Federated Church are pulling for you, praying for you and expecting to see great progress as you walk through this trial. God walked through fire with the Meshach, Shadrach and Abednego who came out unscathed. We believe that you and God will walk out of your fire also unscathed. It is a giant slope and you are made of the stuff to conquer it. God Bless You!!

Hey Cody,
It is the Robertson family from Stockbridge VT. Matt, my husband (Cartwheel,) and I are sending our positive thoughts your way for a full recovery. My memory of you and your siblings is seeing you come out of your Suburban on a snowy Halloween night running across the yard in bare feet - it was an early snow storm - I must admit I was surprised and thought what the ??? We are wishes all the best. Any one with your families determination and love can achieve anything.

Cody, I have to wonder how the little rugrats who would visit me in the shops at Killington so many years ago could have grown into such admirable young men and women! When I watch my little guy ski, I can't help but think of The Marshall gang cruising the slopes and having such a ball as youngsters. Everyone back here in Vermont is routing for you. Thanks so much to all of you for keeping us updated, one can only imagine what a difficult time this is for all of you, yet we have to admire your strength and courage. I look forward to the day I can see you ripping down Superstar once again.....maybe with John Dempsey in tow! Hang in there Cody!
