UPDATE CHELSEA AND DRAVEN (Giddy by way of exhaustion)

Hello all,

I would like to say Chelsea and I are getting ready for her big trip to New Zealand for her training camp but In actuality we are both sitting here staring into space laughing at skinny cow pops and a bird looking at an egg on a plate asking the egg "is that you bob" We are so tired and have been laughing since 8:00 pm out of sheer exhaustion. Chelsea and I have been at the Hospital everyday since the 16th and we have really made a great team together with Cody.

Chelsea made some chicken soup for Cody tonight to take to the hospital tomorrow for Cody while she is gone which means I will undoubtedly be wearing it at some point this week.

Tomorrow is going to be another big day for the Codester he has tried to get out of bed once already tonight which is extremely dangerous as he has no balance or strength to hold himself up on his own two feet. If he fell it would be catastrophic to his recovery. He does not sleep with the helmet on. But will have to wear this helmet for 12 weeks.

We have to watch him like a couple of hawks only without the wings.

When we left he turned into sweet Codyface we get glimpses of through out this fight he is fighting, and when Chels and I said bye leaning down by his bedside he looked at us and said "ok, bye Chels, bye Draven, thank you, I love you guys" and when we told him what a great job he did today and how amazing he was he smiled like a kid in a candy store and said " Thank You "

Now, while Chelsea and I were enjoying that moment so much amoungst ourselves, I shared it with my friend Jen on the phone and said to her "chelsea and I were just saying to each other, why does he turn into the sweet Cody when we are leaving" Into which Jen quickly whipped us out of the moment saying "well, dugh, he wants you to make sure you come back tomorrow." Needless to say there is where the laughter began.

Anne Brandenburg: All I have to say is Your Sniker doodles just saved my life. So thank you.

Phil Salzano: You Hit the nail: Unlike what we racers are used to, sounds like slow and steady will win this race.

Favorite Cody Quote of the day: I have to get up and put my suit on, and then I have to put my other suit on.... well maybe not yet.

Ciao for now,
Draven and Chelsea

Cody! Sounds like you have been a busy man! All sorts of first and clearly, puttin' up the fight and most importantly keeping everyone smiling. Keep it up! We are over here in NZ and reading these updates regularly! I have them coming to my BBERRY so it is great. We were in the middle of our first day of training when we got word you had your first walk with TJ. Right on. Keep it up- new things each day, keeping life exciting. Sounds like right now we need to send you energy to fight, but also patience to let things heal and settle. Take it easy and now we are thinking of you. Draven and Chelsea- laughter. What better way than to relieve some stress! Thanks to both of you and Jesse and for whomever else has written in for the updates, they are invaluable for those of us that are really far away and give us some sort of connection to Cody, so thank you.

Fight on, laugh on and Live Strong... Christa

You both are amazing. We have autistic son so we can kind of relate to having toddler in a strong full size body.

    CODY!

You are so funny! And SO amazing!
I finally found an internet place that works well enough for me to actually manage to get updated on all the medical updates since I left. You're doing so well, and it's absolutely putting a big smile on my face and I'm sure on every one else's face that reads this. I hope you realize what having all these people comment on your blog says about you - you're absolutely fantastic, and everyone is waiting to see your funny face again soon. So keep it up!
I'm glad you have TJ there, keep listening to the master of rehab and you know you're doing the right thing. And give him a "bus" slap from me, I collected a few last time to save for later but forgot.

I'm still here in Bali, 2nd week started today, and I'm getting into asanas (poses) I never thought I'd be able to with my ski thighs and ass, but what do you know, I'm now grabbing my left big-toe while the leg is bent up(my heel resting in my hip)with my left hand BEHIND my back. Get it? I hardly do...
Anyways, went to a temple yesterday for meditation and lit an incense-stick (same deal as a light kinda) for you , so hopefully some munk-spirit-energy made it all the way to SLC and you.

This is almost turning into a long letter I'm feeling, but you see, I decided to give up internet along with coffee, alcohol, sweets and cell phone for this whole month, but I'm aloud to check your blog. So I haven't really been in contact with anyone since I got here, so it's feels great to communicate for a second.. Haha... yeah, you can call me a dork. But we were talking about this a while ago, so I think you're understanding the part of enjoying not being so freaking "connected" all the time.

Have to go, my time is running up, so last words for a little while will again be keep up the motivation and hard work and I'm excited to read about your progress next time!!

For you Jesse, and the rest of everyone of you guys being there for Cody, you are amazing! Please remember we all appreciate what you are doing with this blog so much, and we'd all be there to help if we were only not so far away. My thoughts go out to you as well although I don't really know you

The Updates Cody's family & friends are posting on this great blog are so very encouraging and promising from a prognosticating point of view for this young man. Provigil is a wonderful stimulatory medication used to help jump start the neuro-synapses in the Brain. It is one of the best exogenous ingredients that can be added to help re-balance the neurotransmitter soup our brains are bathed in when TBI occurs. Cheers to Cody, his Family and Impressive Medical Team. Here(http://www.blick.ch/sport/ski/ski-star-albrecht-ich-bin-zurueck-120685) is a link to the Swiss Magazine Blick which shows great pictures of Daniel Albrecht back on Snow this Spring after his horrific TBI accident and 3 weeks of a Pharmacologically induced Coma.

Things are truly looking MOST PROMISING! Good Doctors, Lots of Love, Good Therapists and Tincture of Time is what works with TBI and it is obvious Cody has it in Spades!

    Hi Cody,
I just came back from Spain and heard about your accident. I am very happy to hear that you are improving and getting better by the day, just keep that helmet on all the time and start paying attention to what the hospital staff and your family are telling you to do.
You are very lucky with the family you have, they have been very supportive of you, and you are going to owe them big for many years to come.
Good luck Chelsea in your trip to NZ, say hello to Barb.
My thoughts and prayers will be with all of you.

I am pretty impressed how much positive energy you all have. As a skier and a friend to a person who suffered from a serious brain injury after fall in downhill I can somehow understand your situation but as I read the blog and saw Cody fight in WC I am totally sure he is also going to fight through this. Time heels all wounds. Greetings to Cody from one of his fans from Finland.

You had better get out of that bed Cody because we still have a race up Cougar Mt on our bikes and I need to know when I need to go into serious training. Remember I am 25 years older so I will need a little time so that I don't embarass my children. Doug and I are expecting to see you next year...we are the parent cheerleaders and we need and excuse to come watch you and Paul! I am watching your progress daily and am praying for your complete and speedy recovery! Keep your focus on getting better. I love you and will continue to pray each day for you. Watch out Cougar Mt...Cody has a challenge!!!

    Cody,

I wish you all the best in your recovery. Being a ski racer, I'm sure that you are mentally tuff, so keep up your hard work and please listen to your family, friends, and of course the doctors.
It may be along road ahead , but with all of the positive energy that people are sending you, that should help out huge. So, "Never Give up, Never Give In."

Hope that you are back on the skis soon, and gliding on some perfect snow.

    Get Better!
