GO CODY GO

Hey Guys, You won't believe this one.....

Cody asked to go for a walk today. He did amazing. I think it has a lot to do with Jesse being here today.
He smiled and talked to Jesse quite a bit so far it is so GREAT to have him back here today. Cody was thrilled to see him and have him sitting by his bedside. Cody told Jesse about blog which was cute He said" I think I have like 2000 messages dude" Anyway they are chatting as he goes in and out.

He is tuckered out from his walk so he is taking a nap before he gets Lunch. He says he is starving. He looks really good today and he is still sporting the sweet stash. He will have mash potatoes for lunch and he will remain on a puree diet for now. He is eating so that is good.

So you know how this works is Cody is in and out of a coherent state. He has no filter focus and a extremely short attention span. Everything around him becomes one loud noise. So it i very important for us to keep things at a low level and make sure he does not get over stimulated. He remembers the names of everyone he see's so far and he associates them with how he knows them which is good.

He is in pain but refusing pain medications, which I think is a good thing actually. Unless his pain gets unbearable in which we can choose to have morphine injected into his IV.

There is the update for now..

Thank you guys for being patient it is hard to schedule an update time.
D-

Cody, you don't know me but I have followed you since your accident. You are doing an amazing job and I can tell you that you have NO idea how many people are praying for you. You are an amazingly strong man and I KNOW you are going to fully recover from this unfortunate accident. STAY STRONG and take it one day at a time....before you know it, you will be back on those slopes just like before only one thing will be different....you will be a much stronger person, changed from this trial that you've gone through. It takes great courage and yes, there will be good days and bad days but NEVER give up. YOU CAN and YOU WILL get through this. You have amazing family and friends and even others like me you have never met whose thoughts and prayers are with you daily. Hang in there, stay strong.....day at a time! You are doing awesome.....remember, ATTITUDE is EVERYTHING, you CAN DO THIS!!! Take care!

Cody, I’m so glad you’re starting to feel more like yourself…even just not eating or getting enough sleep would make most of us feel kind of irritable. I’m curious, are you not taking the pain meds because of the way they make you feel? I can’t believe how quickly you’re kicking this thing…it must feel like an eternity when you’re living it, but dude, you already have better recall (names) than I ever will Chelsea, glad you’re going to NZ…you’ll have to train for both of you until Cody can get back on the slopes. Jesse, glad you’re back…saw yesterday’s skiracing.com article…looking forward to hearing what the plan is for the next few weeks . Draven (cool name!), thanks to you too for all your updates. I hope you guys will leave the blog up permanently…it really is a wonderful reference tool!

    Hi Cody,
I honestly can't believe what an amazing job you are doing! Walking, cracking jokes. It makes us so happy to know that you're on the upswing. Pretty rugged that you're going it without pain meds, too. Keep up the good work and remember how brilliant Draven, Jesse and Chelsea are - especially when they're telling you what to do! All our love, Cody. We're still thinking of you all the time. Thanks for the updates, crew.

    Hello Cody and family,

I am Jennie's mom and I have been following your progress Cody and I am really excited. Last year at this time Jennie's brother was in an auto accident and he went through many of the things you are now facing. Fatigue seems to be such a huge hurdle but if you keep taking those baby steps I promise they will pay off. The support and love from all your friends and family is amazing and I think that plays a huge role in the recovery process so build off of that too! Pretty soon you will be playing hours of video games to exercise your brain. I bet you could find someone to help with that whole process. I want to pass along this wonderful guide that was written by the Doctor that did all the post accident neuro testing on my son Joe. His name is Dr. Glen Johnson and it is The Traumatic Brain Injury survival Guide. It is very easy to understand and navigate through. A lot of good info in there if you can all find the time to read it. It will help both now and down the road,http://www.tbiguide.com/ Hang in there Cody and keep fighting. I know you will continue to progress. Best wishes to the family too. You guys are awesome! This is tough and you are all working through it. The outside world will keep the prayers coming in because I think Cody wants a quick recovery!!! Hospitals get old fast!

    Sincerely,

    Debbie

    Cody ~

Ok...I was a fan before, but I have become addicted to your site! Keep up the great progress! I will tell you from my own personal experience, REST FOR YOUR BRAIN AND YOUR BODY IS THE #1 THING that will get you back to feeling like your normal self.

I think it's wonderful that you are remembering people and how you know them. That's great. I still have trouble with names, but it just takes a little bit of extra time.

I totally agree with Draven that keeping the extra stimuli down is really important. I know the more sound (and bright lights) the more confusing it can be for me, and the more the "f" word comes out. (Sorry Mom!)

You are doing SO WELL, Cody!!!!!

Marshall family & Friends ~ you have NO IDEA how much your love and support is important to Cody! Just remember...keep it coming.....even weeks or months down the road, Cody will benefit (and appreciate it!) I don't mean to speak for you, Cody, but I am making a guess from my own experience.

You take your walks (and meds as needed...important) and I'll keep climbing stairs training for my 14'er hike! I'll get to the top with my CODY shirt on!!!!!

    Stay Strong! GO CODY GO!!!
