MEDICAL UPDATE TUESDAY - 6:08 PM
Cody did well with his veinagram yesterday. It went smooth and there were no complications.
He had a good morning today, and took a nap for a couple of hours. He woke up feeling sick and ended up throwing up. He has had more pain today in his head than usual and throwing up didn't help.
They are saying his head pain and upset stomach are coming from the full dose of seizure medicine he is on. He was on 2 different medicines but is now on 1. He received a full dose of this so they are attributing his feeling sick to the switch in dose and just getting the 1 medication.
Anna and his friend Mikkel were saints today allowing me to run errands and get further along with the fundraiser by visiting Cody today and staying with him until I got here. Thank you guys, However, I did miss Cody every minute and worried about him until I was here and knew I was back in my seat making sure everything is going the way it should be.
We are waiting for his test to come back from his cultures to see what his white blood cell count will be. I am also waiting on a definite answer as to why he is not feeling well. He seems to be pushing through it but I can tell he does not feel well at all. He has ice bags on his head which he happily placed there
this time.
He is waiting to eat some dinner and we will see how he feels. I am hoping this is just due to the switch in medicine but I am not putting all the eggs in this basket yet. He is frustrated off and on and his confusion continues with certain situations but it is improving. He does have cognitive thought and conversation. His short term memory is just that. His hearing is still bad especially in his left ear where he really can't hear much except very loud noises. This is on the list and will hopefully be checked this week.
Bone flap surgery should be next week if the infection is gone. He does PT every morning and this will slowly increase in length as we move forward.
For now, until then...

Hey Cody -
That's great that you aren't throwing ice at Draven today!
I hope that they can dial the meds in better for you. But ya know - they do call it the 'practice' of medicine.
Stay strong. GO CODY GO!

For all of us who are following this blog and wishing Cody the best, one question - Draven, are you related to the family, or are you the friend everyone wishes they had? It is confusing for those of us who check daily, but don't know the history. Perhaps you can share. Cody - you inspire us all to appreciate every minute. And we now celebrate every step you take. Get well soon.

Hey Cody:
Sorry that today has not been the best with vomiting and the headache.
I hope it is due to the change in your medications and that things will settle down as soon as the medications are titrated appropriately.
Take care of yourself and let others take care of you.
For those of you taking care of Cody, take some time to take care of yourselves as well. Exhausted care-givers have less to give than recharged care-givers.

Hey Cody -
Sounds like the new med is finally getting you to behave. I want you to know that I watched part of Wall-E for the first time, on your "recommendation" - what a hoot! i can't wait to see the whole thing.
When you get bummed ou tby the puking and pain, and feel like there is a long road ahead of you, look back at the early medical posts and see how far you have come. take comfort in that when you can and let it recharge you for the next big steps.
Wishing you a positive day.
Oh- and Cody, I was wondering.... do you know why a chicken coop has two doors? because if it had 4, they'd have to call it a chicken sedan!!!!!

Cody, keep up the good work. You are so lucky to have so much support. You must be one special friend to all who know you. It is great they take the time to let everyone know you progress. Every morning I look forward to reading about your days and nights and hopefully each day gets you closer and closer to coming home. VT is cheering you on!

CODY-
Another quick note. Just was down at GMVS finishing up some clean-up form ELITEAM and saw Tucker. I think he was loaded in a van ready to go to Chile. He looked strong and psyched to get skiing.
By the way, he looks exactly like you. No stash though...

Hey Cody,
Glad to hear you have Mikkel there. He can entertain you with stories of his crew (aka The Bobss).
I coached with Mikkel for 2 years. I enjoyed working with him. I would cover for him when he would duck into Adam's office to check out your race results.
John
PS
If Mikkel has any funny stories about me, they aren't true.

Dude,
Aren't you the man? Walking around, giving people s**t - the same guy I've known all these years. I'm in Minnesota this week seeing friends and family. Went to see the Twins get smeared by KC last night - probably the last time I'll see the Metrodome. Good riddance as far as I'm concerned, but I did see 100 or so games there over the years. The weather here in MN is stellar though - I'm finally getting some summer weather! I saw Neko Case at the Flynn last week - you didn't miss anything. I think she's a very cool lady but very little of that comes through on stage. Disappointing, but not a terrible show. She's a great singer and has some excellent musicians backing her. It's just that a little stage presence and enthusiasm never hurt. Anyway, sounds like you've got a bunch of new things going on there and that things are looking up up up. I'm thinking of you always. Keep on keepin' on, stay cool and keep workin' it! We'll talk again soon! -Rolf

Hey Cody -
JFK said: “The Future is not a gift, it is an achievement." I couldn't think of anyone who would embody this more than you.
So, our 4 year old was practicing his spins in a bouncy house over the weekend. A little girl, maybe 6 or so, also tried, but she wasn't very coordinated. After multiple failed attempts on her part, Cooper turned to her and very sincerely tried to coach her to success by gently saying, "You need to look for your landing. If you look at your feet, you'll fall every time. Watch me." I laughed my butt off, her parents were NOT impressed and she snubbed him after that. He didn't seem to mind, though.
If he's got even a fraction of your strength and drive, his little 80cm skis will be spinning before January.
Here's hoping for another great day.

GOOD LUCK CODY! I know youth is on your side! Keep making those little steps to recovery. Draven, thank you for your updates. Are you family? Mom or Dad, sister or friend? Terrible accident, but "kids will be kids", I guess! IT sounds like he has always been an adventure seeker. God will help him through this with lots of love from family and friends.
We ski OKEMO and have friends wishing you ALL the BEST !
