MEDICAL UPDATE THURSDAY 7:30 PM

Hello from Codyland,

I had a meeting with the 2nd floor and 5th floor to coordinate Cody's move which we have been discussing for a few days now as I have been very uncomfortable with even the thought of returning to the 2nd floor. Everyone seems to be on red alert handling the transfer properly which is great to see and per my "request" we secured the only private room on the 2nd floor for rehab so we feel even better about the move, especially after the last time we were down here. Private room was a must in my book to even consider the move from the 5th floor and well deserved after the mess we were put through that took days to fix and correct.

For Cody it is critical to his recovery that we can monitor and control the stimulation and that he feels secure and comfortable in his environment so there was no negotiating this in my mind.

So we have moved to rehab floor 2. He has had a good day today. He feels better than he has in a long time which is good to see. He has taken less pain medicine today even though his pain remains peaks and valleys. Good days and bad days either way is progress.

Dr. S and Dr. L have been a huge help in making the magic happen around here. I do feel like there are some people who do the duck an hide around me which is probably best after this roller coaster ride we have been on. However I will say I am liking the follow through that is happening and the staff that has chosen to rise to the occasion. So I will say Thank you to them for that.

I am excited to see how Cody will do tomorrow for all of his PT therapy as of tomorrow he will be doing all kinds of structured therapy for 3 hours. This is exciting for all of us. He will go through rehab without the bone flap to make sure his antibiotics are finished and the infection is gone. So we will be looking at that surgery around the 20th.

We look forward to tomorrow it will be a tough day for sure so I know how great you all are about sending motivations his way so I ask of you to send some pep this way so I can read him some great comments before his day starts tomorrow!!

Rehab will be peaks and valleys of progress. Cody is looking forward to getting started.

For Now Until Then
Draven

Thanks again for the continuing updates. I believe that everything, doctors, therapists and family and friends are in place for the most positive recovery possible. Cody is a lucky guy. The road will most certainly be long and hard, but so worth it. Keep trying and moving forward and remember Cody that there are many people you don't even know that are pulling for you every day.

Draven, Congrats on getting everyone to work together for a successful move to the rehab floor. Cheers to you!! Let Cody use his charisma to "charm" the ones who are still "ducking". Seriously, not to worry, they will get over it.

    Yay Cody!
I'm glad you're doing so well and truly amazed you've come this far in such a relatively short amount of time! I talked with Pete last night in NZ and he told me he'd talked with you on the phone... he was VERY excited about this and said you sounded great. I was so happy to hear this good news! Keep being strong and do your best to keep up the motivation as you start your longer PT sessions... it will be frustrating at first but you'll see the payoffs sooner than you think. We're all rooting for you, Cody!!

    Take care,
    Carolyn

P.S. thanks again, Draven for all of the detailed, honest updates. Take care of yourself too.

Cody, hang in there and be strong. I want you to know that I am taking my prayer wheel with me to Basin, Montana and to the Sunshine Health Mines do a spin in the Mine itself this weekend. Very healing. President Obama is having a town hall meeting in Bozeman today, think of some good questions to ask him. Peace to you.

Draven: Keep them on their toes! My family was in a similar situation and I think if you are well informed and the staff knows you are they will be more tentative to your needs.
Cody - you don't know me but I have been on your blog since the day it was set up. You are doing great!!! I am so proud of your progress. Keep it up!
