HI HO HI HO ITS OFF TO HOME WE GO
That is right! Today is the day.
WE ARE GETTING THE CODEMAN OUTTA HERE AND "HOME" TO PARK CITY TODAY!
7 weeks which has felt like 7 months nonetheless it is a miracle we will be walking out of here today. Chelsea and I have spent a few days getting prepared for his homecoming making sure he will feel at home and have everything needed to take care of him. Cody will attend TBI rehab that I will take him too several times a week and then do some very low impact rehab at the USSA gym.
I am putting together a daily routine for him so things will be as scheduled as they can be for normalcy sake. I will be his main care taker for the next couple of months and then we will see where he is at. The days will be busy and the road is still long but I am so glad we won't be in the hospital any more. Cody is beside himself with excitement to leave and I am so excited for him. We all are.
It is going to be a lot of hard work for him and not so easy for me either according to the Dr.s but I am confident we will do well and there is a good support team around which I am sure I will be calling on occasionally including all of you out there.....
Chelsea is here until Sept 4th and his mom is coming out today for a week so that will help.
He is unable to drive for at least 3 months he has to remain seizure free and will continue his therapy until he is approved to move forward. I am trying to schedule his meal periods, rehabs, rest, visitors etc. so our days will have some shape to them and I feel like I can cook easier for him too if it is planned of course the chaos will strike and all this will be shot to hell but the effort counts and I'm going to try and pull it off.
I have to say without each and everyone of your thoughts, prayers and wishes this would never be happening so THANK YOU, Now we will all continue this journey each day with the next goal getting him through out patient rehab, and eventually training on the snow. I will be excited to share with you tonight how the day went and to report for fact that he is home.
I have a ton of paperwork I am told I have to fill out to get him out and I am sure I will have my own seizure when I see the final bill as I have monitored bits and pieces and just found out how much the extra outpatient rehab will cost on top of everything else.....as if he has an option..... highway robbery I tell you.
I am hoping in the next couple of days after he acclimates we will get a blog post from the man himself. I will update you later tonight. I am going to try and sleep for a couple of hours before this exciting but long day begins....
If you feel I am not being hugely full of enthusiasm it is because seeing is believing when I have him in the car I will rejoice in celebration with all of you and let you know we are home asap.
For Now Until Then

This is truly a very exciting big step. You will all rise to the occasion I am sure and Cody will rest so much better at home, and the FOOD should be a huge improvement. Cody...keep working hard and don't forget to REST. It will seem like thats all you do at times but it is so important. My son would come home from cognitive rehab and he would nap for 4 hours from the exhaustion. That is OK!!! It will be so good to have the change of scenary. You have a lot of very special people who will be helping you along! Go Cody Go!!!

Cody and Family:
It was so exciting to hear Cody is heading home! Congratulations to all of you! I have tears in my eyes and am so happy for Cody and all his family. It has been a long seven weeks but with all the support and love I have no doubt Cody will be back on the snow. Ernest Hemingway wrote: "Everyone is broken by life but some are stronger in the broken places". So true.
Keep up the great progress.

What a miracle, yet at the same time, a testament to Cody's will and his family's support and strength. Keep it up!!! I know it is still a long road ahead, but I am sure that being in a more comfortable environment will speed the healing even more. I continue to send my positive thoughts and prayers your way!

Hooray Cody!
Wow, I can't believe you've come so far in such a short amount of time. Already home after just 7 weeks?! I know, I'm sure the 7 weeks have felt like forever, but it's really, truly amazing. Great job, Cody... keep up the hard work. You'll be on the snow in no time. Pete's on his way home now as I write this and will be thrilled to hear today is also your homecoming.
Draven, you're doing an unbelievable job and I have no doubt you'll be up to the challenge (and joys) of being Cody's caretaker for a while. I look forward to meeting you next time I'm in PC. Take care of yourself. Thanks for all you've done.
Good luck Cody! We can't wait to read a post from you soon!

Wow!! This is very exciting. Cody's recovery has been amazing and I am so happy that he gets to go already. You all are amazing and the biggest reason Cody is doing so well!! Keep it up. On that note, I will say that now you are taking Cody home. Make sure you are taking care of yourselves. You won't do him any good if you get sick or hurt. So don't over schedule yourselves. Sleep when Cody is sleeping or at least rest. Take it one day at time and soon those days will add up. Don't be afraid to ask for help when you are at the end of your rope. Take a break and let someone take over for a couple of hours. It will be hard work for everyone, not just Cody. I know you can do it, you have already more than proved this. Good luck. You all are amazing!! Cody keep up the hard work, you are doing great. Draven you have been a rock, keep it up. Chelsea keep that great smile, your brother needs to see it.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The day we have all been hoping for!
Just know that the rehab is exhausting, but at least you can rest in your own home.
Cody, don't get frustrated with the "not driving" thing. They told me 3 months without seizures...which I was sure I could do, and it turned out to be 3 1/2 years. I was driven to and from work. Go easy on your chauffers! They love you and care about you! (by the way, I am driving now!)
I hope the headaches are subsiding. Remember that they can come and go with rehab. Also, remember to change up the meds when you can. This helps tremendously!
I am more happy for you than you will ever know! I hope to meet you someday...preferably with our feet locked into bindings ready to "SHUSH" down the mountain!
Keep up the great work!
Go CODY GO!!!!

Congratulations!!!!
Just a suggestion, you can now use this site to coordinate meals, and rides in order to have some free time to just get thru the day. Use the calendar to set up meals every day or every other day, put an ice chest on the front porch for people to leave items in disposable containers. Make a suggestion list of favorite foods, and items that won't go over. Ask for lunch and dinner items, stuff that can go a few meals etc. We have done this for friends who have families and don't have the time to spend on meals. There is such a huge support group, let this happen....Cody will put on the weight fast!!!!
