HOME UPDATE SUN 4:25AM
I had an awesome day with the Codeman today (Saturday) I got up at 9:00 am to start preparing for the day and his breakfast, Barb and I chatted for a while before she went and her walk and in the process of getting ready for the day the morning kind of started going by and I realized Cody had still not come out of his room, of course I make it sound like hours when in fact it was 11:00am, however I am not one of those chipper morning people who welcome in the sunshine to say the least.
At any rate Cody came out of his room right then so for the first time he slept in getting some much needed rest which I was happy to hear and see. So I made French Toast and hash browns for his breakfast and we talked about the days activities, skiing, and Jesse coming into town. His mom returned for a walk and heated up some of my homemade chicken noodle soup for herself and Cody decided to have a cup as well. (A side note: I made this enormous pot of chicken soup 2 days ago and the entire 20qts is gone so needless to say "my chicken soup" which my mother passed on to me was a hit. I made another huge batch tonight.)
At any rate and after all of this...on our agenda for today was game board shopping because I wanted to start playing board games with the Codeman. While we were picking out games I asked Cody if he played Chess as it is one of my favorite games and I was taught by my Grandfather whom at one point was a Champion chess player as a hobby. Needless to say Cody said why yes I do like chess. Awesome! It will be so nice to have someone to play chess with. Lets get it.
We finish the days chores, the trip to the grocery and head home. To preface the following story, yes it is I who decided to make a Full Thanksgiving dinner for Monday, I love to cook and I make quite the Turkey..lol... So Barb went to open the trunk to unload the groceries and the Turkey had shifted and fell out of the car and hit her ankle in which she hobbled around in pain making this terrible face and strange noises when I asked what happened she pointed at the 25 pound Turkey sitting on the ground, mumbled something and so sadly enough Cody and I started laughing which made her laugh so all in all she was okay. It looked really funny. I swear.
After making it inside barb hobbled and all.....Cody and I then decided to set up the Chess board well Cody set it up and I heated Barb and him up yet another bowl of soup. They ate then Cody and I played Chess. To make a long story short we played 1 game which ran about 2 hours, I had him corned and beat with my 2 final moves remaining there was no where he was going to be able to go I had the words checkmate on the tip of my tongue and the little booger put me in checkmate 1 move before mine. UNBELIEVABLE! I misjudged my right line of sight whilst focusing on my move to win. Blah blah blah...UNBELIEVABLE. We had such a great time though it was perfect. I think we both decided we need a daily chess game it has all the aspects of a good time and gets the brain moving.
So I am looking forward to our next game tomorrow where I will have to revive myself with a win as I haven't lost a chess game in years of course the last time either of us had played chess with someone had been at least 3 years ago... Anyway tomorrow is our family game day we decided since Jesse is in town and we went and got board games today of course we looked everywhere for Cranium and no such luck
Apparently there was a labor day rush....
After we finished the game, Barb came over to show us her "bruised ankle" in which just looked like a vein to me but she is convinced there is swelling and was hobbling around here and there, I have to say it was pretty funny... so Cody and I diagnosed her with a rare but painful disease called Turkey Ankle also known as Turkey Foot or T.A. This continued for hours as we worked it into any conversation we could and it was quite funny. She threatened to fly home at one point but I let her know immediately that it is against airline regulations to fly with Turkey Foot and T.A. patients tend to be impulsive so it best to just lay down.
Jesse made it in safe late night flight, I got home from the airport finished the soup, Jesse and Cody hung out until bedtime and we planned the schedule for tomorrow. It should be a great Sunday.
Barb is in bed and I hope she is elevating that ankle! I certainly don't need another patient on my hands especially one with T.A.
Well I hope everyone has a great labor day weekend!!
I am sure I forgot some details and things but I am passing out now....

I am Barb also and I think I have TA as well. In my case it is Training Ankle as I was doing some stretching last night and this morning my right ankle is not happy with me.
As always another terrific report about Cody's progress. Thanks, Draven.
