THE GREEN MOUNTAINS -- CODY UPDATE SAT 1:30 PM
I'm sitting here enjoying a
nice cup of green mountain coffee roasters made with my french press
that I have in my room in Vermont. Luckily when I was younger I was
smart enough to set myself up with the important things. This coffee is
delicious! Its funny and a little weird to be moving back in with the
parents at this point in my life. I have always been someone who lives
in the moment and goes his own way. One of the things I have been
struggling with in the last few months is my lack of independence. I
have come very far in the short time that I have been out of the
hospital and being around my family with their support and love creates
a great environment for my continued recovery.
It
is great to be back home in Vermont. I have traveled the world and
spent some time in some very beautiful areas but nothing is like
Vermont. Unfortunately there is still no snow in the green mountains
and I will have to wait a little longer before I click into my skis
again. Killington has been very supportive of my recovery. The day I
arrived home Tom Horrocks called me, he set me up with a membership to
the local gym and a season pass to the mountain. The support I continue
to receive amazes me and does more for me than I can say. Thank you
very much to Tom and anyone in the area should come skiing with me at
Killington this season!
I have been enjoying
my time at home but will be leaving again on Wednesday to Colorado to
watch the World Cup at Beaver Creek. It will be a little weird to
travel to a race as a spectator but I cant wait to see our boys in
action.
NBC Olympics wrote an article on my recovery, if you guys are interested you can check it out
Take care,
Cody

Cody, I'm so glad you have settled in at home in Vermont. I can tell you your presence in Utah is missed but I know your folks and friends are so glad to have you near them. What a great article and what a terrific picture of you and Chelsea. It is so good to see that big smile on your face!! Take care and have an awesome trip to Colorado, I know you will miss being in the action but I know that isn't far off!! Dude, continue the hard work, it is paying off in a big way!! Cody Man,
Its great to hear from ya again. Coach "Woody" here from Michigan, where it is pouring rain today. So I am enjoying a cup of Java while I am writing.
The NBC aricle was awesome Cody, they did a very good job. I am glad to see that the sports world has noticed what has happened in regards to your accident, and the awesome work you are
putting in on the road to recovery. By the way, Happy Birthday, and Thanksgiving. And its gotta feel good to be with your family and back in Vermont. Good for you. Bottom line is, family is everything.
We have approx. 40 plus ski areas in Michigan and we are "not" skiing yet, so don't feel to bad, aye. And I can't wait to hear you click in to your bindings all the way back here in Michigan. Go for it Cody. Enjoy the ride. Have fun at the races watching the World Cup and your friends there. And we all know that you would rather be in the race, try and be patient.
Hello Draven, Happy Thanksgiving.

Cody,
My daughter Mardi is at Burke Mountain Academy in her first year there. She's a first year J2 and presently training in Panorama, BC. I know the BMA crew thinks of you often and they're inspired by all that your doing to be healthy. Now that you're back in Vermont, I'm sure they'll look forward to a visit from you and to see you on the Hill.
Take good care and enjoy your trip to Beaver Creek - I wish I was going! I expect the US Team to have some awesome results with so many guys skiing well.

What a wonderful article. I don't know you Cody, but I know your mom and Chelsea who were my girls' swim team coaches for a few summers. We have been reading your blog and praying for your recovery. So nice to hear you made it home to VT for Thanksgiving. Your parents have so much to be thankful for. Keep up the hard work, rehab Cody. You are truely an inspiration to all. The charnock family
