CODY UPDATE -THURSDAY 5:12PM
I just arrived back home in Vermont last night. I was in Colorado for a
week watching the World Cup at Beaver Creek. It was awesome to see
everyone and spend some time with my second family. I also stopped in
to see TJ Lanning at the hospital in Vail. TJ is a good friend of mine
who has been through a mess of injures in his career. TJ missed most of
last season because of a torn ACL in January. While competing in his
first race back in Lake Louise he dislocated his knee and broke
vertebrae in his neck. Injures are a really hard thing to have to deal
with as an athlete and TJ has been through more than anyone I know. TJ
was so supportive and helped me a lot in my recovery while I was in the
hospital so send all your healing powers to TJ.
One plus about not competing this season is that I dont have to travel as much. I forgot how much I hate flying. Checking in the first day my bag was one pound over weight. I could either pay $150 or take a shirt out of my bag. This stuff drives me insane! I did get to see Chelsea on the way home. We were in Chicago at the same time. We were both connecting, she was on her way to Munich. Chelsea will be in Europe training and racing for the next couple of weeks before she comes home for christmas.
The snow is starting to fall here in Vermont so it wont be long before I will be writing about my first day back on snow!! I will be waiting a little bit longer for there to be a little more terrain open at Killington before I head up there.

YEAH, snow in VT! I hope it continues and you get a chance to ski. YES, be careful and WIAT until they get a decent base. Ask me!! I have skied early and wear 7 screws in my left shoulder for it! YOU are playing it SMART!
Glad to hear you saw Chelsea and TJ... I will add him to the prayer chain! GOOD LUCK for all the team.. at the 2010 Olympics. I met Emily Cook when I was in Park City, in July.
Keep up the GOOD WORK!
Gramma Sandy, an OKEMO skier!

YEAH, glad you are home in VT and glad you got to see your sister and TJ. BE putting him on my prayer list! Skiers seem to catch the worst falls.
You are smart not to tempt fate again and ski before there is a GOOD BASE.
Have fun!
Sandy

This is why I always carry and extra bag in my backpack (my dad taught me well). You can always argue its your man purse at security. That being said they were lame for charging you, last time they just waved the fee when it was 2 lbs over.
That's pretty awesome about running into your sister at the airport and Best thoughts to TJ.

Cody,
Glad to here your doing well and I'm sure Barb and Don are happy to have you home for a while. Email me directly @ kture@wmschultz.com so I have your address. Maybe I'll see you this weekend, come on over for Mama Ture's good cooking Saturday night. You'll have to help me get Scotchy back on skiis again, I'll need a lot of help picking him up if he falls!!! HAHA!!
See ya Dude,

I hope TJ has lots of visitors, but it will be hard for him because all his teammates are racing all over the world now. But I think you'll be in constant touch with him and hopefully others will too. I skied last week at Killington for 1st time after knee surgery. Knee isn't strong yet so I wanted to take it real slow with no risks. It was great to be out there playing! But I learned that it's impossible to ski slow and carve, and it's hard for a racer to slide all your turns in order to ski slow, especially when you see everyone around you knifing powerful arcs. But I did ski slow, and you can too.

I am relieved to note that Cody is back. I was really worried about his skiing sessions. Cody points out that he visited his friend TJ Lanning who is at the hospital which I think is a really good gesture. Snow is starting to fall in Vermont. I will be visiting Vermont soon and I will be able to make the best out of it. I will be trying to do a little bit skiing also. I hope that I won’t be breaking my bones in the process.
